We would like to thank all the brave men and women who have served our country so that we can have the freedoms and opportunities we all enjoy on a daily basis. Thank you for your sacrifice and service! If you or someone you know is a veteran, drop their name and service in the comments so we can thank and appreciate them today.

Let's get excited about the Book Fair!

Our Falcon cheer squad kicked off Friday Circle for us this morning. They did an awesome job!

Third-grade hosted a writing celebration today to culminate all of their hard work on writing a Pourquoi Tale (a narrative that explains the question of "Why?"). Parents enjoyed coffee and pastries while reading students writing and asking them questions about the process. Students were excited to show off their finished products, which explained why polliwogs wiggle and discuss their learning behind these unique stories.

Our 7th graders were rained out earlier in the year from attempting the Alpine Tower at the Middle School Retreat. Yesterday, they had the chance to make up for that. Students showed curiosity and bravery to conquer fears. Many of them are making "overcoming" part of their expedition work on their own identities. Great Job!

4th and 5th grade band is hard at work this morning preparing for their Winter Concert.

Sixth graders did an excellent job presenting their work around natural disaster preparedness at their Celebration of Learning last night. Shoutout to students and teachers for their hard work and preparation. We learned a lot about what goes into preparing to be safe during unpredictable disasters.

Elective and support crew always show out for Halloween.

We had a staff pumpkin decorating contest this week. There were some very creative entries.

First grade students kicked off their expedition by spending the morning at Camp Falcon! Students participated in campfire stories and skits, bedtime stories and movies, camp songs, dance parties, and even enjoyed some snacks. At the end, they were able to piece everything together and figure out that they will be learning about why stories were created and what a story can be!

Due to some technical difficulties, parent weekly update will be sent tomorrow morning. Don’t forget we have school all 5 days this week due to our workdays being two weeks ago. Have a great week!

Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Keller took a group of readers to the local animal shelter to read to the animals. Research shows this benefits not just the students but the animals as well. Everyone had a great time!

We honored our first batch of epic leaders at today's Friday Circles. Congrats to these amazing leaders!

Picture Day Reminder!!
Friday, October 25, 2019
Pictures will begin first thing in the morning. Students do not have to wear their uniform as long as it is school appropriate. Pictures may be ordered prior to or after picture day and may be ordered online or by returning the picture day envelope.

Today was our first EAFK ceremony of the school year. We recognized students for the virtues of compassion and perseverance.
It was also the launch of a new initiative we started called EPIC Leaders. Each quarter, students are nominated by their teachers to be EPIC Leaders. An EPIC Leader is a student who not only embodies empathy, perseverance, integrity and curiosity at all times but pushes others to grow in those character traits. They are the highest of leaders at Lead. Once appointed an EPIC Leader, the student has a responsibility to continue to be a leader and ambassador for Lead Academy. EPIC Leaders receive the honor and respect but also a special reward trip and a bag of goodies. EPIC Leaders are a select group all should strive to join in the future! Congratulations EPIC Leaders!
