Instructor of General Music and Chorus grades K5-8
My name is Xavier Martin Moses and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I first began my singing career at the age of 10 with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. With this group, I was able to see the world traveling to Russia, Germany, Canada, and I was able to perform in places I would have never have dreamed of like for Good Morning America and the famous Carnegie Hall. With this group, I also was a part of the Elton John youth choir for his Birthday celebration at Radio City Music Hall. For high school I attended The Fame School in New York City and graduated in 2005 with an emphasis in Vocal Music. I continued my education at Brooklyn College first pursuing a B.A. in Music Performance. After a year at Brooklyn College, I relocated to South Carolina and enrolled in the University of South Carolina’s School of Music pursuing my B.M. in Music Education. While attending USC I was involved in quite a few music ensembles such as the USC Concert Choir, Carolina Alive – The vocal Jazz ensemble, The Male a cappella group Sound Check, and held leading roles in several Operas on campus. During my studies I had the experience of traveling with the USC Concert Choir to China as a pre-kick off to the Beijing Olympics. While still enrolled at USC, I began singing with the church choir of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia. I was hired as a Bass section leader, assisting the congregation in worship through song. With the Trinity Choir I have traveled to England, France, and Italy.
Upon graduating from USC in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Music Education and a Minor in Vocal Performance, I began my teaching career. I taught one year as a Middle School Choir Director in Spartanburg District Six before diving into Elementary teaching in Allendale County in 2011. In Allendale county, I served as the Elementary Music Teacher for both Allendale Elementary School and Fairfax Elementary. During my time there, I lead the Allendale Elementary choir, was the Assistant Director of the Allendale Steel Band and assisted with the Allendale Robotics team. In the Spring of 2014, I was named Allendale County District teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school term. When I have some down time I enjoy listening to music as well as making it, watching movies, and spending time with my wife Ashley and son Ian. I also enjoy playing with my band Jukebox Island where I sing lead vocals and play a mean Ukulele!
