Instructional Coach

I am so proud to be entering my 16th year in education and my seventh year at Lead Academy. It was a thrilling personal and professional experience to be a part of Lead’s first year of existence and getting to watch our school community grow since then. Moving onto our own land last year was such a gratifying achievement for our school family.  I am certainly looking forward to more leaps forward as I transition into an instructional coaching role.  I consider working at Lead the greatest privilege of my professional career.  We couldn't have a better vision or school family!

After growing up in Maryland, I moved to South Carolina to complete my undergraduate degree at Furman University. As a member of the Furman soccer team, I had the opportunity to volunteer at local elementary schools. It was through this experience that I fell in love with teaching and saw how transformative education could be in the lives of young individuals. From this point on, I became utterly dedicated to the teaching profession. I finished my four years at Furman with a degree in Elementary Education, eventually I also added a Master’s Degree in Education. I have greatly enjoyed working with many cultures, populations, and age groups throughout my career. I started out teaching third grade for a few years in Anderson County. From there, I moved to China to teach English to college students. I have also spent truly meaningful and eye-opening time with students and schools in Eastern Africa. After returning to teaching in the United States, I moved back to Greenville County where I have taught five more years at the fifth grade and third grade level. I was greatly touched to be voted Teacher of the Year by my colleagues at my previous school and then went on to be named second runner up for the Teacher of the Year for Greenville County.

Personally, my husband and I spend our time chasing around a fun-loving, adventurous, sweet two year old.  Claire loves to eat, read, play outside, and laugh lots, just like her mom and dad.  We are all also huge sports fans. We cheer on Maryland Basketball, the Calgary Flames, the San Francisco 49ers, and Manchester United Soccer Club - so we're all over the map! We also love cooking and eating out, traveling to see different cities, countries, and cultures and most things outside.
