Hello! I am Gabby Duguay (Ms. D) and I have been working at Lead Academy since September of 2017. I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy. For those of you that are not familiar with Recreational Therapy, it is a systematic process that uses recreation to assess the needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabilities with psychological or physical health. Basically, we use a play form of therapy to help those individuals in need.

I completed an internship at Skyland Trail in Atlanta, GA in the Summer of 2017. Skyland Trail is a nonprofit mental health treatment organization that serves adults 18 years or older. I had the opportunity to practice recreational therapy that summer with individuals that were diagnosed with bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, dual diagnosis, borderline personality disorder, and anxiety disorder.

In my spare time, I coach JV softball at Broome High School, I like to visit my mom, brother, and sister in Charleston, as well as, earning my Masters in Psychology. If i’m not doing any of these activities you will probably catch me at a Clemson football game. Go Tigers!

I look forward to working with and getting to know your child/children this year at Lead Academy.
