Emma Rutter

7th & 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

A native of the Upstate, I grew up in Spartanburg and went on to attend Furman University where I earned my B.A. in History. While at Furman, I also had the great learning opportunity of traveling and studying abroad, which truly sparked my love of history. After graduating, I worked as a copywriter and editor for five years before going back to school to pursue my real passion – teaching. I earned my M.A.T. from Clemson University in 2013 and am now entering my fifth year of teaching social studies here at Lead Academy. It has been incredibly rewarding to work with the amazing and devoted teaching staff here at Lead, along with the wonderful students and parents that make Lead such an amazing community. In my free time I enjoy running, reading, traveling and being outdoors. I am excited to continue fostering a love of culture and history in the students of Lead Academy!
