If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow
- John Dewey
Technology is an integral part of instruction at Lead Academy. Students use and access technology in the following ways:
- Each student in Grades 4-8 is issued a Google Chromebook as part of our 1:1 technology initiative for our middle grades students.
- An additional 40-50 Chromebooks, Ipads and tablets are available for Grades K-3 to use in class.
- Students create final products ranging from video blogs to podcasts to Google Slides presentations. These tasks are integrated into the classroom curriculum and prepare our middle schoolers for challenging high school curricula and life beyond the classroom.
- Many classrooms take advantage of Flipping, which allows students to access lectures and videos prior to addressing specific subject matter in class. This gives everyone more opportunity to interact with the content together and participate in hands-on learning tasks.
All students in Grades 4-8 must pay a $30 Chromebook insurance fee which covers minor repairs and servicing. Students who have not paid this fee by the date of the first Progress Report, will not be allowed to take their Chromebook home until the fee is paid.
